Quarter horse with osteoarthritis

Ines PÉREZ

Veterinary

Quarter horse, female, 17 years old.

She has suffered from poor training and poor shoeing for many years of her life, and poor conformation has caused her to develop osteoarthritis in her right carpus. She has a slight lameness when trotting in circles in the right hand (grade 2/5), positive flexion test and, in general, resistance to move when ridden.

Started on Vetmic on 5/12/22 (she was not receiving other treatments).

On 18/12/22 she was ridden again and was observed to be much more active and the circling lameness was barely noticeable. She has also started to gallop on her own in the paddock, which she did not do before.
